Overnight Academies held at the University of Delaware
Hands-on activities and many opportunities for problem-solving in small teams are included. All cadets will receive a camp T-shirt & many handouts about the new high-tech world they are entering.
Our Overnight Academies
Destination Moon
Grades 7, 8 and 9
Destination Moon
(Entering 7th, 8th and 9th grade) Integrates real world experiences with lunar studies including drafting, crystal development, advanced rocketry, drones, simulation, bridges, composites/space beam, telescope building, and field trips.
Held at the University of Delaware
Destination Mars
Grades 8, 9 and 10
Destination Mars
(Entering 8th, 9th & 10th) During the academy, cadets will conduct Mars-related experiments and take part in a computer simulation. They will assemble a space station underwater, build a magnetic levitation vehicle, construct and launch a rocket made from spare parts, design a rover, and simulate astronaut training. Cadets hear from experts on Mars and take a field trip to Iron Hill Park.
