Cadet Activities

A Lifetime of STEM Inspiration

What better gift to give a child than a lifetime of curiosity? STEM-related fields lead to some of the most rewarding and highly-paid careers available, and the memories your child makes while at Delaware Aerospace Academy can inspire them to reach for their goals. And the best part is - like riding our flight simulator (shown left) - the learning and activities are fun and engaging at the same time!

Check out some the activities available at Delaware Aerospace Academy below, and for a specific list of activities for each Academy Grade, see the list on our General Information page.

Just Some of Our Cadets' Activities:

Teamwork & Collaboration

Throughout the week, Cadets are challenged to work and think cooperatively to solve STEM problems. Skills in group work, teamwork, and leadership learned today will last a lifetime and serve your Cadet well in any future endeavor, education, or employment.

The best part - because our projects are fun and engaging, learning comes easy and friends are made quickly.

Building and Launching Rockets

What better way to learn about a wide variety of scientific principles than to build and launch your own rocket? Depending on their grade (see the Academy List Here), Cadets will learn about the principles of flight all the way to advanced rocketry.

Earlier grades will construct their rockets from kits, but later grades will be challenged to build their rockets from spare parts.

Rockets are launched at the end of Academy, which is always a favorite activity. Cadets love to see the rocket they've built themselves take to the sky.

Field Trips & Special Presentations

Depending on their grade, Cadets may take field trips to local attractions such as the Delaware Air Guard or the University of Delaware Center for Composite Materials where they can get hands-on and up close with the topics they're studying.

Other grades may have guest presentations from local industry experts like ILC Dover, the company that manufactures NASA's Space Suits.

Hands-On Projects

Depending on their grade (check your Cadet's Academy Here), Cadets will study various topics through hands-on projects and methods, such as constructing telescopes, building a magnetic-levitation vehicle, engineering, circuitry, and so on.

When necessary, materials are provided to your Cadet and are included in the Academy cost.

In many instances, Cadets will be able to bring their projects home with them at the end of Academy.
