Richard Waterhouse
Richard E. Waterhouse, Program Coordinator
Mr. Waterhouse holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Education and
Social Science Education from the University of Delaware. In 1994, he
was chosen as the Teacher of the Year from Downes Elementary School in
the Christina District. In the same year, he received the Commitment to
Education Award from the University of Delaware College of Education.
The Delaware Science Alliance chose him as their Outstanding Elementary
Science Teacher for 1997.
The state of Delaware chose Mr. Waterhouse as one of its ten finalists
in the NASA Teacher in Space competition. MBNA awarded Mr. Waterhouse a
grant for the Odyssey of the Mind program in 1998. He has coached
Odyssey of the Mind teams in Delaware and Maryland, since 1993. Mr.
Waterhouse is the chairman of the Tech Committee at the Downes
Elementary School.
Mr. Waterhouse writes and performs original children's music with a
partner as "Miles of Smiles". He lives in Cecil County, Maryland with
his wife and two children.
