Mrs. Farina received a B.S. in Elementary Education from Longwood College, Farmville, Virginia and is close to completing a M.A. in History from West Chester University, West Chester, Pennsylvania. She has taught in Virginia Beach and Henrico County, Virginia and for the past 19 years, in Newark, Delaware. She is presently teaching third grade at McVey Elementary School in the Christina School District.

Mrs. Farina was one of two lead teachers for the Launching A Dream program in 1998, a program created by Dr. Wright to give elementary students an opportunity to experience the process that an astronaut goes through to be selected, prepare a mission and finally complete that mission. This is a yearlong program, which is completed with a mission rendezvous at Dover Air Force Base in Dover, Delaware. She has also developed and implemented a Space Science Overnight program for selected third graders at McVey, which includes teaching and training them on the K-3 Boeing Simulator plane.

The Christina School District selected her the Christina School District Teacher of the Year for 1996-1997. She was also awarded the Richard (Kippy) Dupont Award for Excellence in Elementary Education in 1998. She has previously served on the Christina School District Science Committee and this year has returned as Lead Science Teacher for McVey School. Mrs. Farina was also selected to participate in 2002 on a statewide scoring committee for the Delaware State Science Test.

Mrs. Farina and her husband, a dog and two cats live in Pennsylvania where she is constantly thinking up new approaches to turn her students on to Science as she integrates it into other subject areas.
