The Aerospace Education Department and the Delaware AeroSpace Education Foundation (DASEF) in conjunction with the Aerospace States Association and other state agencies will sponsor the ninth high altitude launch of a High Powered Rocket at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, Delaware on Saturday, May 6, 2006. After viewing the displays and student launches, everyone will be invited to view the launch of the High Altitude Rockets.
This Educational Program will feature model rockets, bottle rockets, kite demonstrations, "Launching a Dream" space shuttle bus display, exhibits and briefings on the Park's Parade Field. A number of seven-foot-tall advanced model rockets will be launched from the same site. Numerous public and private schools throughout Delaware and Civil Air Patrol squadrons and cadets are invited to participate in this applied learning program. Instructors and students at DE Tech Terry Campus will construct the instrument packages for the High Altitude dart. Civil Air Patrol Cadets will be helping with crowd control and launch site perimeter security.
The Smokin' Plover Rocket is launched as part of the Delaware Rockets for Schools Program to stimulate academic interest and public awareness in engineering, math, technology, space and environmental sciences. Experts from the Delaware AeroSpace Education Foundation will handle the launch operation. Over 3000 people are expected to attend this tenth, significant launch day!
