The 21-year Mission They Have Been Working and Waiting For!
62 Teacher in Space-Space Ambassadors to Attend Barbara Morgan's Launch

--Cocoa Beach, Florida

As STS 118 approaches the August 7 launch date, at least 62 of the 114 Teacher in Space -Space Ambassadors will be together for the launch at Kennedy Space Center
in Florida to support their colleague Barbara Morgan, formerly the Teacher in Space from Idaho and currently NASA's first Educator Astronaut to fly.

Morgan became an official, fully trained astronaut in 1998 and will be making her first flight aboard Endeavour as a Mission Specialist astronaut.

The Teacher in Space-Space Ambassadors (TIS-SAs)  are the 114 state finalists
selected in 1985  who were in the running for the opportunity to be the first Teacher in Space. Christa McAuliffe was selected with Barbara Morgan as her back-up.

The TIS-SAs organized and will be attending their "TIS-SA Conference/ STS-118 Launch Update" from Aug. 4-11 in Cocoa Beach, Florida. They will also be at the Kennedy Space Center for the launch and another day of education workshop sessions and special tours.

As a follow up to the Media Release sent out on July 15, please find the TIS-SA itinerary below inclusive of the dates August 5 - August 11.
